What Is The EN812 + A1 Safety Standard?

Our HardCap A1 + products are rated to a European standard, known as the EN812 + A1. We get a lot of questions about what precisely that is, so I thought I would take a time to explain just what is involved in earning that rating.
The HardCap is a bump cap, which differs significantly from a hard hat because of the level of impact that the hardened shell is required to withstand. The contact test is run at a much lower energy than the one required for industrial hard hats, knocking into the hardened shell with the equivalent of an 11 lb flat mass that has dropped about one foot. However, unlike a hard hat, which is designed to withstand a single impact and then be replaced, our bump caps are tested to withstand contact four separate times at multiple angles.
The HardCap A1 + carries the "+" sign in its name because it is designed to exceed that standard, giving the wearer the ultimate in safety and peace of mind while it is in use.
